TICKTUM’S TRYING TIME AT SUGO

#15 Dan Ticktum (GBR – Mugen Honda/M-TEC HR-417E)
Qualifying: 19th – Grid: 19th – Race: 15th
Super Formula Championship position: 14th – 1 point – after 3 of 7 races

Red Bull Junior Dan Ticktum had a torrid weekend by his standards and finished 15th in his third Super Formula outing at Sugo.

“Terrible is the best way to describe it,” expressed a clearly down 20-year-old Briton. “I don’t know what to say really, I was so keen coming into the weekend, I loved the track last year and it hasn’t changed and nor have I. We tried everything with the car, the set-up, I tried changing my driving style, we all did everything but there is something wrong that we didn’t find.”

“I really wonder whether when I hit the kerb at Autopolis something was damaged that we haven’t found. It does seem that something is significantly wrong.”

“These cars are very sensitive, you can see that most of the teams are inconsistent but that doesn’t explain why I am a second off my teammate. Not wanting to be arrogant but on an off day I might be a tenth or so off but this is more than that. I’m going away and think about my driving, the team will look at the car and we’ll come back to the next race much stronger.”
