Autopolis Super Formula action for Ticktum

Super Formula Championship position: 8th – 1 point – after 1 of 7 races

Red Bull Junior Dan Ticktum weathered a difficult start to his Super Formula campaign at Suzuka a month ago. The Honda Formula Dream Project driver is ready to take a step forward this weekend with another single race at Autopolis.

The British 19-year-old was not happy with his first Japanese race of the year. “We know that we need to improve our pace over the first weekend in Suzuka, we found a few things that we believe are going to help us, I don’t want to say what but if we can get the tyres working better on the car it will make a big difference to how competitive we are.”

“Other than that I just want to get there and get on with it, not talk it up. I have tested an F3 car in the rain there the other day so at least I know which way it goes but that’s about it.”

It is a busy week for Ticktum who flies to Japan after Wednesday’s F1 test with Red Bull Racing. The Mugen Honda driver is not concerned about swapping cars. “No, not in terms of driving the car, the travelling, that can be a bit of an issue but to be honest I don’t like getting there too early anyway so it should be fine. I feel it’s a case of – have a coffee in the morning and get on with it.”
