A typically dramatic Pau Grand Prix saw changes of weather and fortune. Red Bull Junior Dan Ticktum made a great start to the event, was second fastest in both free practice sessions, then topped the opening qualifying and thus started Race 1 from pole. The 18-year-old Briton got jumped at the start and again following a restart so finished third.
“It was pretty frustrating after a great start to the weekend,” stated the Motopark driver. “The pace was there to win every race but a few things got in our way. The first race, yes I take blame for that, I got passed by a kamikaze move that was a bit unnecessary at this point in the season but OK.”
Technical
“That afternoon, in the wet qualifying we had a broken brake balance adjuster and so the balance was off and I just didn’t have the confidence needed to do the best job. Then I went straight on at turn two just at the end of the session when everyone was going quicker.”
“In race 2 my headrest came off and I was forced to retire, not good at all. Race 3 was a real shame, red flagged because of the rain, a big disappointment, only half points awarded so we didn’t lose too much there. But with the speed we had the results really should have been a whole lot better.”
