1st in A Final
Qualifying set the tone of things to come as Group 2 leader Daniel Ticktum led the way overall from Group 1 front man Lando Norris.
From pole position Ticktum edged Norris by 0.06s in Heat 1 following a last lap pass, his margin matched by Caroline’s Heat 2 win over William Taylforth. Ticktum’s margin of victory in Heat 3 over Alfie Brown was down to 0.5s, again after a last lap pass, while Ryan Anderton’s Heat 4 win over Dean Macdonald was a comparatively comfortable 0.11s.
With Caroline promoted back onto the A Final grid, Hugo Bentley-Ellis was demoted and to compound his misery he finished 5th in the B Final behind Zak Fulk, Dan Zelos, Charlie Barlow and Jake Anderson, missing out on a place in the main event by one place.
Teammates Anderton and Ticktum worked the slipstream perfectly to pull away in the Final with the more experienced Ticktum acting as Anderton’s rear gunner until the final lap when, having done the same thing twice in the heats, he chose his spot perfectly to take the lead.
Anderton was powerless to stop Ticktum taking his second Final win of the season by a scant 0.3s. Shanaka Clay, Josh Smith and rookie Jack Leese completed an all Fusion top five with Luke Barker 6th after Caroline and Taylforth spun out of 3rd and 4th places respectively with three laps to go.
