Tough F2 baptism for Dan Ticktum at Yas Marina

#11 Dan Ticktum (GBR – Arden)
Qualifying: 14th – Race 1 Grid: 13th – Race 1 Result: 11th
Reverse Race 2 Grid: 11th – Race 2 Result: DNF (Technical)

The last minute call-up from Arden Motorsport for an F2 debut in Abu Dhabi was never going to be an easy entry into the class. Always up for a challenge, Red Bull Junior Dan Ticktum was thrilled to take it on.

“Yes, it was a great learning experience and thanks very much to the F2 guys and Arden for making it possible. The F2 car is very different to what I am used to and it was hard to make the best of it in such a short time,” stated the 19-year-old Briton.

Not as much fun

“To be honest I didn’t enjoy it as much as the F3 car, not as much fun to drive and I guess that’s down to the weight and also the tyres are different. I think most of the drivers feel the same way.”

“I think I did a pretty good job in qualifying and the first race, no time to prepare before the event and only three laps on the super-softs before pushing to qualify so it wasn’t easy. We did OK. Unfortunately today I had a gearbox problem and had to retire.”

“Again massive thanks to everyone who put this together and it was certainly a good learning experience,” concluded the Macau double winner.
